SEAL ROCKS SHACK

Description:  Holiday house

Location:  Seal Rocks, NSW

Year:  2013

Status:  Complete

Photos:  Brett Boardman Photography

Located in the coastal hamlet of Seal Rocks, This shack reworks the plinth of an existing house and creates a new sleeping pavilion by cutting into the hill.

A heirloom project for the owners children and grandchildren, the shack is designed to strip away the visitors city stresses and engage them with landscape and ocean.

This house celebrates the robust materials of fibre cement and uses an incised linear deck, high level glazing and raked plywood clad ceilings to engage both landscape and light into the deck.

Moments of delight include the day bed, the panel lift door engaging the kitchen with the rear covered deck and the fireplace for those winter evenings.
